Christmas Zone Conferences and White Elephant
Hey there family! This week has been really cool! Monday we traveled down to Alamosa for a Christmas Zone Conference down there. We took a special route through the mountains that was a little longer, but totally worth it! It was absolutely gorgeous, and i am forever grateful for this beautiful earth and all the creations on it that our Father in Heaven has created for us.
We had another Christmas Zone Conference in Pueblo on Thursday, and something peculiar happened at both of those Conferences. Usually for Zone Conference, at the end, the missionaries that will be going home between then and the next Zone Conference have the opportunity to share their testimony. However, this being a special Zone Conference, our Mission President decided to set some time aside to open the time for whoever would like to share their testimony. Both times that the pulpit was opened up for testimonies, missionaries we would not have normally expected to jump at an opportunity like that, did. And it was amazing. I can recall 3 specific moments in which those speaking directly addressed some concerns and questions i had been praying about in days previous. It seemed like all the testimonies shared touched on it, but the Lord really wanted me to get that answer. It was so neat to see the Lord use my fellow brothers and sisters to answer my questions and bring me comfort, and they probably don’t even know that they did it.
On Friday, we had district meeting, and did a white elephant gift exchange. That was super fun. I found this bobblehead in our apartment of “STARLORD” whoever that is. And I put a fake mustache on it and wrote a “certificate of authenticity” for it. The gift that I ended up with was a brown paper bag decorated that said “single awareness kit” and inside was a bag of hersheys kisses with a note that said “Love. Because you aint getting any of this this year.” Hahahaha of course that creativity was by a Sister.
It’s been a great week to start off the Christmas season and to top it off, on Sunday night our district went Caroling and shared the Christmas initiative of service with people. It was way fun and people were very receptive
Love you guys!
Giving thanks for transfers and temples
I hope thanksgiving was totally awesome for everyone! Ours was good! Transfers went pretty smoothly, which is a huge blessing, then all of the sudden it was thanksgiving! Thanksgiving morning we went to the Turkey Bowl for the Sand Creek ward, because our ward wasnt having one. It was a blast to see and play with all the old Sand Creek friends again, because thats where i was last thanksgiving. After that i cut a few Elders’ hair for them (a new hobby ive picked up – haircutting lol) and we had thanksgiving dinner with Mike and Randi. That was a blalst to hang out with them. And since we get to watch a pg movie on thanksgiving, we watched the new Finding Dory. Super funny and i really liked it.
Saturday was definitely the highlight of the week as Jesse and his wife Diana got baptized. Diana asked me to baptized her and Jesse asked Elder LaRose to baptize him. The service went really well and it was a super neat experience for both Elder LaRose and me. Then we switched vice versa and I confirmed Jesse and Elder LaRose confirmed Diana at sacrament meeting on Sunday, another awesome experience.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a Servant of the Lord and to see people make changes in their lives. Tis the season! I hope everyones holiday season has begun well!
Hey family! Thanksgiving is coming on up, cant believe it! I hope you all have fun plans for it, and will stuff your face endlessly (: We will be joining Mike and Randi McManimen. Mike is the one that just got baptized a few weeks ago, and we are looking forward to spending the time with them.
This last week has been busy as we knew it would be. Saturday and Sunday were gonna be hectic we knew, but we had some more things pop up last minute that just topped it off. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night we weren’t to bed until after midnight or 1am. But we did get everything done! That was a blessing from on high for sure. Some people use caffeine to stay up, we use the spirit.
All in all the week was good though. We had an Elder that came back out after going home for medical, it was exciting to see him again and in full health. Tyler, a 9 year old kid we have been teaching is getting baptized in Utah this Saturday by his grandfather. He and his family are really excited, and it should be awesome. Jesse is excited as well for his baptism scheduled for this Saturday. He and his wife had us over for lunch on Sunday after Stake Conference.
We had Elder Bat of the Seventy visiting for Stake Conference. He was great, and totally hilarious. He told some really good stories and he had us laughing our heads off (ha ha ha…plop as mom would say). His message was focused on reaching out to those around us. Members and nonmembers alike. Be loving and share with them what you love. He talked about how you can be natural and comfortable around people as you share the gospel with them. You can also joke around with them, and the success is in the invitation, not the baptism.
Its been good, it continues to be good. God is great. I have more to be thankful for than I know how to give thanks for. I love you all. Happy Thanksgiving!
